Lately I've been remiss in my nightly scripture reading. I always tell myself "don't forget tonight" then something comes up or a mess needs cleaning or I just want to relax. But one day turns quickly into a week, then into much longer.
I need some suggestions or helpful reminders to nudge me in the right direction. Any hints?
Register for www.readthescriptures.com You can set up a schedule for the Book of Mormon, Old Testament, New Testament, priesthood/relief society manual--nearly anything. They'll email you a chapter, you read it online in your inbox, and after you're done reading, they'll email you another chapter for the next day. You can also elect to have another chapter emailed to you immediately instead of waiting another day. Best of all, the website is FREE.
ReplyDeletecool suggestion above. I have heard of folks who bought a cheap alarm clock that they set for scripture study (set to snooze if a distraction happens?) each night at 7pm (etc).
ReplyDeletealso... i love you! miss you so much!!!
I try to read while I'm eating breakfast. :) that way it gets done before the craziness of the day begins
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of reading in the morning, before the day gets far away from me. As a mom, I sometimes feel like I have nothing to show for my day (lots of intangible stuff like loving on Jacoby), but if I can accomplish that one thing, I feel a sense of satisfaction. Also, I find that scripture study really helps me stay focused on motherhood being the priority not some chore. I don't get bogged down in the mundane as easily. I hope y'all are well!
ReplyDeleteI'm LOVING the suggestions everyone! Keep them coming! Although, I don't think reading in the morning is going to work for me. I'm not a morning person and Lincoln gets up early. Wah Wah...
